MEDITATION: Thinking of You – ‘An Ambassador’

2 Corinthians 5:20-21: Ambassadors For Christ: So, You are an ambassador? An ambassador indeed, simply because of what God Almighty, through Jesus Christ has done. For God has made Jesus to be sin for you and me. He never knew sin, never committed any sin. He was even bold enough to face his accusers and ask them; Which one of them could really convince him that he had committed any sin?No one was able, yet he was falsely arrested, accused, tried, beaten, mocked and crucified. Within the space of less than 24 hours all these treatments were given to him. He suffered injustice and the mockery of an illegal trial, which condemned him to die as though he were the worst offender. He died alongside condemned, hardened criminals. He was sensitive enough to hear the inward heart-cry of one of the thieves dying beside him! Because that theif repented at the last passing moments of his life Jesus forgave him. Though the thief was not pardoned by the laws of the land, he obtained the full pardon of heaven, through Jesus Christ. Jesus had on his mind and spirit the souls of everyone born and ever yet to be born into this world in all lands and throughout  all generations! Jesus thought about you and me in particular. Jesus Who knew no sin, was made sin. That meant He tasted death for every human being. The Bible declares that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord(Romans 6:23). Jesus paid the price that sin demanded with his life blood shed on the cross. The life of a person is contained in his blood. When blood flows through our hearts and blood vessels that is an indication of life still existing. When blood is shed, the life goes with it and the person dies. Jesus therefore gave his life as a ransom paid to rescue every human individual from spiritual and eternal death. The Bible declares: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all(Isaiah 53:5-6). Jesus died for our sins on the cross, he was buried in a donated tomb, not borrowed. He rose up from the grave on the third day, just as the Holy Scriptures foretold. God does not condemn any person for his /her sins. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through him the world might be saved(John 3:17). The good news is this: That God offers full pardon to all, because of what Christ did on the cross and rose again. God is no more angry at you, because He had visited His full anger through judgment upon Jesus Christ, His Son, who surrendered to become our substitute; our sin-bearer and our ransom. As a result of the pleasing sacrifice made  by Jesus during which he fulfilled the standard of the law of God by his death on the cross, we are declared not guilty by God, basically. The taste of the pudding is in the eating. Every person ought to claim the priviledged benefit of the sacrificial, substitutionary death of Jesus. God gave his approval by raising Jesus from the grave on the third day.  The word of God declares that if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess him as Lord with your mouth, you shall be saved.  For with the heart a person believes, fully trusting in and relying on Christ and so is justified and made acceptable to GOD. With the mouth, the person confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord and he is saved. Through Jesus Christ, peace was made with Almighty God by his blood which he volunteered to be shed on the cross. The whole of the human race has  eversince been reconciled to God. Everybody ought to hear and know this good news personally. The blood of Jesus so shed, has present and everlasting power to wash each trusting person from sin. Each trusting or believing person is given power to live to please God. His or her past has been forgiven, he or she has been given power to become a child of God. A new life has begun. The power of God is given not on merit or because a person has done particularly well. It is by virtue of the mercy of God. It is called grace. By the influence of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul wrote: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them(Ephesisns 2:8-10).  Each believing Christian is a workmanship of God; that is, the handiwork of God. Each one as such is created in Christ Jesus. It is a brand new creation. We were former antagonists of God because we shifted our allegiance from Him to Satan. Through Christ, however, we became transformed. Henceforth, our lives are being enabled to please God. It is written:Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;behold, all things are become new(2 Corinthians 5:17).  Having become beneficiaries of the peace made with God and become reconclied to him, every believing Christian is sent to take and share this good news with any person who would listen. Every Christian is a representative of Christ equiped with the word and message of reconciliation. TELL, URGE, INVITE people everywhere to come to experience the same reconciliation we have experienced. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). An ambassador goes out with delegated authority. He / she goes out with words of commission- THE MARCHING ORDERS. He has been thoroughly briefed-his FEET SHOD WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE.He also has Divine cover and protection.GOD is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble. Therefore we shall not fear, because GOD is with us. We go taking the whole armour of God with us. This is not carnal or physical armour, but the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said: And Lo, I am with you alway, unto the ends of the world (Matthew 28:20)! The power and might of the Kingdom of Heaven is behind us and gone ahead of us.       Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ stead, be ye reconciled to God(2 Corinthians 5:20). Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

THE BLOOD AND THE NAME OF JESUS

There is power in both the name and the blood of Jesus. Some people have wondered and asked questions about these two aspects of Jesus. Both are part and parcel of Jesus Christ. You cannot separate the power in the blood of Jesus from the power in his name! I watched the film ‘The Passion of the Christ’ again just after Easter. Mel Gibson and the rest of the cast did a great job on the film. I do believe that half of the suffering of Christ was not told in that film! Jesus was tied to the whipping post and beaten, reducing his body almost to a pulp, before walking all the way to Calvary Hill, where he was crucified. Those Jewish religious leaders and the crack Roman soldiers were fierce and cruel! Prophet Isaiah said these about Jesus, hundreds of years before he was born: ” Surely He has borne our griefs(sicknesses, weaknesses and diseases) and carried our sorrows and pains (of punishment), yet we (ignorantly) considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God (as if with leprosy) Isaiah 53.4 Amplified Bible. It was Blood, blood, blood all the way, as Jesus willingly allowed his own blood to be shed in order to pay the price for our sins. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord(Romans 6.23). The life of any person is in his blood. By the shedding of the blood of Jesus, his life was poured out unto death to serve as a ransom(he stood in our places) in due punishment for our sin and at the same time serve as a sacrifice to make peace between us and the Holy, Almighty God, whom we all have offended. The good news is that Jesus died for our sins, he was buried and on the third day, he rose up from the grave and took over the keys of death and Hades from the devil, setting free all dead, but faithful, God-fearing people who came before his first coming and every other person ever to be born in human history. All that Isaiah said were fulfilled. As a result of being at peace with God, mankind individually (by faith in the shed blood of Jesus, and by faith in calling upon the name of Jesus, who died and rose again) can be saved from sin, sickness, diseases of the body, mind and spirit. There is power in the blood and in the name of Jesus! We have redemption in Jesus through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins (Colossians1.14).Jesus made peace through the blood of his cross. On February 20, 2011, we posted an article on ‘The blood of Jesus:The Greatest and Only Panacea’ Because of the blood of Jesus, our past failures are forgiven, our present walk and fellowship with God as his children are enhanced and our future status and victory are assured. We have been rescued from the powers of the devil and set free to serve the Living God.(1John1.6-7; Romans5.6-11; Ephesians 1:3-12).We lay claim to this blessing, privilege and status by faith in the powerful blood of Jesus, shed on the cross and faith in his powerful name! When Jesus arose from the grave, he took his own blood to his Father God in Heaven, where the blood was permanently placed. There the blood of Jesus speaks by pleading for mercy for anyone who has faith in the shed blood of Jesus and anyone who calls upon the name of Jesus in prayers asking for the salvation of his soul, the healing of his body, or for any problem confronting him/ her! There is power in the blood and the name of Jesus! There is life in looking up by faith to the blood shed on the cross of Jesus Christ! There is life now for you! There is deliverance from your sins and bad habits. There is no sin that cannot be washed in the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus is greater than all detergents! The blood of Jesus is greater than all vaccines! Jesus Christ obeyed his Father totally, even to the point of death for the sin which he did not commit! As a result of this great obedience by Jesus, GOD ALMIGHTY decided to honour Jesus by giving to him the greatest name in Heaven,on Earth, and under the Earth (Underworld). That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2.10-11). By the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, the writer of Hebrews stated: It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:(Hebrews 10.23-24) Christ entered into the real heaven, not with the blood of animals(as the priests of the Old Testament did), but with his own blood. The blood of Jesus Christ was used to sprinkle heaven at the real mercy-seat. There forever, the blood of Jesus Christ speaks, pleading for mercy for you and for me when we call upon his name and when we exercise faith in his shed blood! The writer of Hebrews states: And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel (Hebrews 12.24). Because of the blood of Jesus shed, greatness was conferred upon his name! That is to say, by his achievement, greatness came upon the name of Jesus Christ. Because of the total obedience and humility of Jesus, he was highly exalted and given a name greater than all other names!(Philippians 2.5-11) That is to say greatness was conferred upon Jesus Christ. Because as the Word of God, from the bosom of the Father as Creator with his Father, Jesus Christ already had a great name before he was born as a baby in the manger! That is to say, Jesus Christ was born great!Jesus Christ was born great. He achieved greatness. He also had greatness conferred upon him! The Overwhelming Authority(SPIRITUAL POWER);Unlimited Ability (DYNAMIC,KINETIC and INTELLECTUAL POWER);Creative,Restorative and Corrective Ability (MIRACULOUS POWER),are all invested into the name of JESUS CHRIST!What Jesus said before his crucifixion is as valid today as it was when he first said it: “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full”(John 16.24).There is power in the name of Jesus Christ! Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10.13). Amen.

IN TIMES LIKE THESE

These are challenging times all over the world. The hearts of men, women, girls and boys are filled with fear of the uncertainties of life.Fear of the unknown tomorrow is there.Fear of the availability of the next meal to eat is there for multitudes! There is the fear of unstable marriages and family upheavals! Fear of constant abuses from low and high quarters has seized the lives of many.Fear of the effects of distant past, recent or impending natural disasters has left scars in the minds and lives of many.Fear of strives, wars and rumours of wars, has destabilized the pattern of human lives in many lands. Seasonal predictions or forecasts are no longer accurate because of the frequent environmental abusive pollutions by human activities, arising from increasing industrialization. There is the fear of unpredictable, fluctuating economies! The deliberate, pretentious, partial or total ignoring of the hazardous effects of addictive, dangerous drugs such as nicotine, marijuana, cocaine, morphine, and the likes, in the world today, has continued to send confusing signals to emerging youths, who are the future leaders of the world. The increasing rarity of encountering good role models in our societies has made the future to look gloomy and blurred! WHAT CAN WE DO? It is very important to turn our attention upon the MANUFACTURER of the world, Who is THE ALMIGHTY GOD. We all need an ANCHOR; we need a HELPER. We need a reliable FRIEND. We need a RECTIFIER. We need a SAVIOUR! His name is JESUS CHRIST, MAKER of the world! For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Jesus is the SOLUTION to our world’s problems today! Give Him the chance! Please view this message of song in addition. GOD bless you.

THE BLOOD OF JESUS: THE GREATEST AND ONLY PANACEA

The blood of Jesus is the greatest and only PANACEA. It is the ONLY remedy for sin. It is the greatest antidote for the deadliest of poison or killer drugs. It is the greatest cleaner of the pollutions in the lives of any person or groups of human beings, anywhere in this world! It is the greatest antibiotic for any infection whether simple or complex- including the ones that have defied all types of known medication in history! It is the greatest therapeutic capable of curing any infection no matter how virulent! It is the greatest prophylactic capable of preventing any infection no matter the invading germ or pathogen! I tell you boldly that no matter your sickness, disease of whatever physical or physiological dimension, the blood of Jesus can set you free! The Blood of Jesus is able to set any person free from bad habits, all fears, free from the powers of evil and establish lasting liberty forever! Tumors would dissolve! HIV/AIDS would be destroyed out of your blood and body fluids! THERE IS NOTHING; ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that could face the power in the blood of Jesus, the CHRIST of GOD! There is only one CALAMITY and that CALAMITY IS SIN! The blood of Jesus was shed over two thousand years ago to destroy the power of sin in human lives. Each person needs to come to receive the blessing in the powerful blood of Jesus, the CHRIST of GOD! BY FAITH the blood of Jesus must be applied to your life to meet every need. Satan trembles at the mention of the name and the BLOOD of JESUS! Glory to JESUS! He is the Son of the Living God. He is the LAMB of GOD slain in the programme of GOD before the foundation of this world! There were and there are Angels in Heaven, who served and worshiped GOD all the time. Lucifer was the head of the Angelic hosts;Cherubs, who beautified the presence of GOD with glorious beauty and adoration. He was holy, powerful, beautiful, wise, musical, harmonious and glorious until rebellion was detected in him! GOD therefore demoted Lucifer and banished him from Heaven into this Earth with one third of the angelic hosts who got conned into the same high treason.Lucifer is also later called Satan, Devil, prince of the power of the air and prince of darkness, the deceiver and liar. When man was created, Satan called the Devil, was waiting for us. However, he never understood and cannot understand the full programme of GOD!Satan tricked Eve and by stubborn self-will, Adam followed suit in disobeying GOD, thus becoming corrupted as if to frustrate the plan of GOD! JESUS, the WORD of GOD, the LORD(ADONAI)- CREATOR of Heaven and Earth, CREATOR of Lucifer and all the angels, had to leave his glorious throne in the presence of the MOST HIGH GOD in order to make possible the redemptive plan of GOD. GOD had to be born as a man in order to rescue mankind from sin and its effects! As far as GOD was and is concerned, He saw the programme finished when he drew it up in the TRIUNE SUPREME COUNCIL OF HEAVEN (Made up of the FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT, yet ONE GOD). ADONAI, called the WORD of GOD was made incarnate inside the virgin called Mary by the power and presence of the HOLY SPIRIT. As a result, JESUS was born in order to save mankind from sin! For that to be done Jesus became the sacrificial LAMB of GOD. His blood was shed on the cross for the sin of us all. Even though He never sinned, He carried all human sins from the start to the end; and laid his life down as an offering for sin. The blood of a righteous man was shed for the sins of all the unrighteous mankind, from the beginning to the end of human history.GOD ALMIGHTY,by that sacrifice through JESUS,has done all that was necessary for the reclamation and emancipation of humankind. JESUS,the LAMB OF GOD, died on the cross in Jerusalem, outside the city walls and GOD laid upon him, the iniquity of us(EVERY HUMAN BEING THAT HAS EVER LIVED AND THAT WOULD EVER LIVE) all! There is power in the blood of Jesus! The power in the blood of Jesus must be applied by faith to every situation of your life for it to be effective! Jesus rose up on the third day, never to die again, because as he arose, he destroyed the power of sin, death and Satan. It is like a battle. It is by choice. If you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe(adhere to,trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes(adheres to,trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified(declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses(declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms (his) salvation. The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him(who adheres to,relies on, and trusts in Him) will(ever) be put to shame or be disappointed. (Ps. 34:22;Isa 28:16; 49:23; Jer.17:7)Romans 10:9-11(The Amplified Bible). Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Jesus as the CHRIST, took his own blood and carried it into the real Heaven, where the throne of GOD is. JESUS CHRIST placed his blood on the MERCY SEAT! The blood is still there NOW! THE BLOOD OF JESUS SPEAKS NON-STOP, for mercy upon you and me! It is the only blood that speaks for mercy. Call upon JESUS CHRIST today; even now. His blood is ready to bring victory into your life as you do so!There is unrivaled power in the blood of Jesus! There is power in the name of Jesus! There is power in the word of GOD! MERCY is available now because of the only blood that pleads for mercy!

SUNDAY SERMON: ‘In Defence of the Gospel’

The Good News is important, needed, urgent, powerful and most relevant today in our generation. Prophet Ezekiel, as the watchman, gave God’s message to his generation. hearing from God and passing on the message to the people.  Ezekiel 33: 1 – 9. Failure to seek God, hear from him and tell people in our generation may bring grievous consequences! May the LORD deliver us from ignorance, laziness, selfishness, arrogance and blood–guiltiness! Let us do our part in sharing the love of God with all. The response to our message or witness is not ours to determine, but it is God who completes the rest if only we do our part.  ‘Cry aloud spare not’ or shout it aloud, do not hold back, says prophet Isaiah to his generation of leaders, messengers and prophets. Isaiah 58: 1. Prophet Joel said: ‘Blow you the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain Joel 2: 1 ff. That fiery, but academic of a preacher, and one time President of the British Methodist Conference, Dr. W. E. Sangster said, among other things, that ”all that concerns preaching is of an importance hard to exaggerate and perilous to ignore.” I believe it is hard to exaggerate, in the sense that you are committed to preaching it in the simplicity of truth. It is also perilous to ignore it, because doing so, spells disaster for anyone who rejects or undermines the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ! It is perilous to ignore it for the preacher or witness who fails to preach or testify and thus risk being guilty of the blood of sinners who die in their sins, without someone warning him or her of his or her dangerous, perilous condition.  This is a hard reality of life, but as preachers, commissioned to preach the good news, we are to persuade people, not coerce them. We are to love them and not to frighten them. We are to be good examples to them and not to judge them. Jesus said: ”For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but that through him the world might be saved’ (John 3:17). The writer of Hebrews stated: ”How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation” Hebrews 2: 1-4. Jesus said: ”Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?” Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers.” Matt 7:13-14, 21-27. God requires from all Christians, simple, child- like trust and obedience in small things as well as big things. May we no more be guilty of acts of omission and commission. Let us go out; out of our familiar comfort zones to meet worried, troubled people, waiting for us. Let us go because we have been called, commissioned and authorized. Let us go in the realization that the whole of the Kingdom of Heaven is backing us. Let us go because we are ambassadors for Christ and the message of peace and reconciliation which we have received is needed by countless millions around the world ; beginning at home! No better credentials are needed. Not even a degree or diploma in theology can withstand those God-given credentials, but having the college diplomas or degrees could be useful in addition. What then are we waiting for? WE ARE SINNERS SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD. WE ARE OUT TO TELL WHAT WE HAVE HEARD, SEEN AND EXPERIENCED OF THE GOODNESS OF GOD. GO AND FIND, TELL  AND BRING THEM – the sad, worried, lonely, fearful and confused around the world, beginning next room! God bless you.

SUNDAY SERMON : “Come and See”

TEXT: John 1:35-42 The expression ‘Come and see’ was first made by Jesus to two of John’s disciples – Andrew and another man. These two had followed Jesus after John pointed him to them. Andrew was a very observant and attentive person who specialized in bringing people to Jesus! Andrew (Simple, Solid and Vibrant): John 1:40 – Compared with Peter, he was not loud or as assertive. However, he too did great service for the growth of God’s kingdom. You do not have to be a minister, wearing dog-collar or a theologian, or a local preacher. God knows you, appreciates you and has put his grace and power in you to equip you for the task given to the Church, of which Christians everywhere are components.  As for Andrew, he brought his brother to Jesus; brought the unknown boy with packed lunch to Jesus; the multitude that was hungry was as a result given blessed food. Andrew’s Conversion: John 1:35-39 – He met Jesus through the witness of his friend John the Baptist. A. God used a respected, well known friend e.g. John ‘The Baptist’: v35-40.  Andrew believed John’s witness concerning Jesus because he was a respected friend! B. God used a Redemptive Analogy through John ‘The Baptist’: v36. Every Jewish person would understand about the “Lamb of God,” but this “Lamb of God” would take away, not just cover up the sin of the world.  That is indicative of the expected Messiah.  C. God used a Relational Approach: v40: John the Baptist helped Andrew to know and meet Jesus, while Andrew told his brother Peter about Jesus. He also brought him to Jesus. God uses relationships to bring people to Christ! Have you told your brother / sister / niece / uncle / aunt / mother / father / friend, about Jesus? We cannot afford to fail in telling them. We should tell them not only by our lives, through our usual acts of charity, but verbally too. We cannot afford to have our friends and relations go to hell because we fail to show them the way of Christ and practically lead them to Christ!  To fail, is to have the blood of the unsaved ones on our hands! Of what benefit is it if you pat your friend, neighbour or family member on the back, while he or she goes on in his / her sins or wrong – doing. Then when that person dies you come with flowers to show your love when you have not cared enough for his /her soul, during the life time! God will ask you and me if we fail to tell even our own family members about Jesus. We cannot afford to be careless or selfish or disobedient or shy! It is not a matter of pride or arrogance, as some have thought. Rather, it is the testimony of a sinner who has been saved through the grace of God, encouraging another sinner to avail him / her of the same grace. Look at the state of many families in our world today. Look at the state of millions of our youths and many adults with their delusions and indiscipline! People in the community are looking up to the church to show them the way. They need us for food, shelter, counsel and  spiritual guidance. We must not fail. We are to help them by our lives – our actions and our words. Andrew was a Concerned Man: John 1:40-42 A. He brought Peter to Jesus: 1. His Priority: v41 – He first found his brother, Peter and brought him to Jesus. “Charity begins at home”   2. His Procedure: v42 – FIND – v 41; TELL – v 41; BRING – v42. B. He brought a boy to Jesus: John 6:8 -9 Through his keen observation and interest for and in others he spotted and brought the boy and his packed lunch to Jesus. Then Jesus was able to bless the multitude. Though Andrew was not as popular as Peter, he did a great thing in telling his own brother, Peter. He was also an instrument in the feeding of the multitude. What I am telling you, I am telling myself and the whole Christian church anywhere in the world! C. Later on Andrew along with Phillip brought some Greek people to Jesus (Working along with others): John 12:20-22. CONCLUSION: God uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways. Do not look down at yourself. Do not look down on others, no matter how junior you think they are to you. God has put a lot of ability inside you and me to make us succeed. We cannot fail, with God on our side! Truth has great impact in the context of friendships. The simplicity of our message makes it the more appealing, but we must not compromise the truth of the gospel! Everyone can minister as Andrew did. We can tell people as Andrew and later Phillip did. Phillip found, told and brought Nathaniel to Jesus,  telling him to ‘come and see’. You and I – What Shall We Do? We should testify by our lives and our combined activities such as Coffee Mornings, Lunches, Rallies, Concerts, Carols, Retreats, Talks, Seminars and Mass Evangelism. We should make use of these as well as verbalizing the good news on a personal or one – to- one basis. It is not preaching! It is telling others what you have known or experienced about or through Jesus. In the buses; on the trains; in the planes; in the market places; anywhere you can find human beings. Find, tell and then, bring people. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so (Psalm 107:2a) (and also do so). You and I can say to people who ask us the reason for the hope, joy and peace in our lives: ‘Come and see; come and hear what Jesus did in my life!’ God bless you.
