The Pope, considered one of the most humble and pragmatic of all Popes is highly respected. After his short visit to Brazil Pope Francis has expressed his views on another current, but raging issue in the Church and Society. Homophobia has caused stirs across the world, uniting and dividing people. Archbishop Desmond Tutu spoke on homophobia recently saying that he was ready to go to hell rather than serve/ follow a homophobic God! However, we at Agape Focus affirm that God Almighty does not hate Homosexuals. God hates homosexual acts of sin. Similarly God does not hate anybody. God only hates all acts of sin.

The news media including the BBC carry this message prominently:

Pope Francis has said gay people should not be marginalised but integrated into society.

Speaking to reporters on a flight back from Brazil, he reaffirmed the Roman Catholic Church’s position that homosexual acts were sinful, but homosexual orientation was not.

He was responding to questions about whether there was a “gay lobby” in the Vatican.

“If a person is gay and seeks God and has good will, who am I to judge them?”

He also said he wanted a greater role for women in the Church, but insisted they could not be priests.

Jesus said: God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it[John 3:16-17].

God said: Let all the world look to me for salvation! For I am God ; there is no other[Isaiah 45:22]

Jesus never prevented anyone from being a priest! Mary of Magdala was the first to proclaim the resurrection to the Apostles! Priscilla and Aquila, tent-making couple as Paul, were fellow leaders of the early church with Paul, having a local church in their house[Romans 16:3-5]. The Apostle Peter, married leader of the early Church also teaches about the priesthood of all believers[1 Peter 2:9-10]. In the Roman Catholic circle, the late Mother Teresa did exploits greater than that of many male priests!
To all homosexuals we say: Let the Word of God and his counsel lead you to make a U-Turn back to God. God loves you and so do we!

The political and the socio-economic situations across the world and especially in Africa this Century demands great caution, patience, commitment, faithfulness and due diligence. The current waves of political and social changes sweeping across North Africa and parts of the Middle-East are glaring pointers to the need for both the leaders and the led to get things right and give to the teeming masses their deserved socio-economic boost, based on the combined resources of each nation. Political leaders should not wait for the times of approaching elections or public demonstrations before they start to pretend that they feel and understand the nagging problems of the masses. Elections are around the corners in many places across the globe, when leaders would be judged by the electorates in each nation at the polls.Campaigns are very hot in various places; and as we move on through this year, voters in more prominent nations would be calling the shots as they retain or do away with various administrations/political parties at various tiers of government. Next month,Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, would hold General Elections to elect, legislators to the states and national Assemblies, and also elect State Governors and the President. The whole world would focus attention on Nigeria, expecting to see an election that is not only free and fair, but putting into various offices, credible leaders who would deliver positively on their promises to the electorate!Prayers have been on for long. The days of buying of votes, harassment and intimidation of opponents, abuse of offices by the privileges of incumbency, are over! Voters are more educated now and must not sell or mortgage their rights because of temporary pleasures or gifts. The future well-being of the young ones, the unborn, as well as ALL, are of utmost importance. The future stability and progress of Nigeria must not be toyed with nor jeopardized because of selfish gains or ambitions. The law enforcement agencies should do their best to ensure the credibility of the general elections in Nigeria, to install leaders who would move the nation forward. The Electoral Commission must be above-board and transparently honest and fair. All hands must be on deck. That great African from Ghana, the late Dr. J.K Aggrey taught that: ….. Only the best is good enough for Africa. And I dare say that ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR NIGERIA. For Nigeria to continue to give credible leading contribution in Africa and in the world, we must put our house in order. NOW is the right time to give the best to Nigeria;not second best. Nigeria and indeed Africa needs and wants the best from the impending General Elections.GOD is also watching us! MAY IT BE SUCCESSFUL BY THE POWER OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD! AMEN!

Blood of human beings is too powerful and precious a substance to be toyed with! It is so linked with life, that if anyone spills blood recklessly, he or she would pay dearly for it both NOW and in ETERNITY! As I have stated before, blood has a loud voice that cannot be silenced. All the weapons in a country’s armoury cannot silence the voice of human blood, especially blood spilled unnecessarily! Blood spilled by tyrants would haunt them and follow their generations until there is repentance- a U-turn back to GOD. Let the leaderships in Libya, Iran, Bahrain and other places take note that power belongs to GOD. It is GOD Who delegates this to them through the people, who are the real representative custodians of the power. If a group of elites/ usurpers of powers/democratically elected leaders/sit-tight power- drunk tyrants/ or any other category of leadership ignore or maltreat the people who allowed them into office, then an opportune time, a right time(KAIROS moment),would come when they would be ejected from office! The blood of the innocent is still crying out for justice and vengeance! There is no hiding place for wicked, callous leadership!Let the security forces be wise and not descend so low as to destroy the people they have sworn to protect. It is the people(the Masses;the ELECTORATE) who own the nation. It is not the natural resources or physical boundaries alone that make up a nation. Good as these physical entities are, they are useless if all the people are marginalized, impoverished, starved or destroyed! Who then would these leaders rule over or govern? Let there be caution/ reason/ discretion/ and sanity. The BLOOD of the innocent has a loud voice which cannot be silenced! ENOUGH OF THIS RECKLESS SPILLAGE! Let the people be listened to; let there be constructive dialogue; let these nations move positively forwards.Time is running out. This is 2011 and not 1711!
